Pricing
For A$1,540 you get:
- The legal sponsorship necessary to obtain your J-1 visa
- Medical and baggage insurance for 13 months
- Assistance with obtaining your visa (you must pay the visa related costs)
- Assistance with obtaining a US Social Security Card
- Work & Travel USA Handbook providing tips on working and travelling around the US
- Lonely Planet guide to the US
- Local support in the US
- SPA International calling card
- Travelex Visa Cash Passport Card
- GST
What's not included?
- International and domestic airfares and other transportation
- Passport fees
- Visa fees
- SEVIS Fee (currently US $35)
- All items of a personal nature including expenses for entertainment, meals, housing, transportation to and from your employment
- Insurance for trip cancellation or trip interruption
If you purchase a specially discounted airfare from our travel provider, STA Travel, you will also receive:
- Free International Student Identity Card (ISIC) or International Youth Travellers Card IYTC (if eligible), which entitles you to discounts on entertainment and travel while you are overseas
- Free password protected ‘Web wallet' which allows you to keep track of your budget and itinerary and store important information like credit card and passport numbers, etc.
Eligibility
To be eligible to participate in the Work & Travel USA program you must be over 18 and:
- Be a full-time student enrolled at an Australian university or TAFE college (minimum Diploma level course of 2 years duration)
- Have completed your first full year of studies, or
- Have graduated from such an Institution within the past 12 months
- Agree to abide by the program rules
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen
Important Notes:
- GAP year and high school graduates are not eligible (visit www.studentexchange.org.au for options)
- International students are not eligible for the 12 month program (learn about a 4 month option)
